Tell me what you really, really want

I’m working on rewiring my brain. Did you know you can do that?

Brain plasticity (also called neuroplasticity) is the brain’s lifelong ability to reorganize its structure, functions, and neural connections in response to new experiences, learning, or injury. It allows the brain to adapt continuously throughout a person’s lifetime, forming new neural pathways and rewiring existing ones.

My mom was a “glass is half empty” (maybe less than half) kind of person. I’m a “glass is half full guy.”

I’ve been married for 40 years and I still come home thinking tonight’s going to be a good night… if you know what I mean 🙂

But what does that have to do with what I really want, John?

Actually, I forgot… I was thinking about my glass being half full and I forgot my point.

Maybe that’s the point.

Concentrate on what we have.
Not what others have.
Not what we don’t have.
Not what we want.

Society is full of bad influences like, “Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.”

As if you’re going to get everything you really really want.

Think about every spy movie you’ve ever watched. The bad guy goes after what he really wants and the hero stops him and protects those who would get hurt by the bad guy getting everything he wants.

But my favourite movies are about the good guy who strives for what he wants and then a guide comes along and helps them.

It could be the Genie in Aladdin, it could be the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.

I’ve had many guides over the years help me.

I’m thinking of Perry at Madman McKay’s who taught me about “what, when, how, what if, would you.”

I’m thinking about Shane who taught me “take care of the client and they’ll take care of you.”

I’m thinking about Elaine and Anna who exposed me to the opportunity of being a business manager.

I’m thinking about Grandma Helen who lent me $600 to take a course to be a business manager.

I’m thinking of Bob and Kathryn who helped us financially when times were very difficult.

I’m thinking of Tony who entered me into a Toyota marketing contest which I won.

Each one of these people were guides, mentors and influences on my life at a critical moment in my life and or my career.

Their wisdom influenced the direction of my life, forever. They helped me steer my life.

If you have ever driven a car or piloted a boat or airplane, you know that it requires constant steering adjustments.

Boats are unique in that they leave a visible wake. You can look back at the frothy ocean and see where you’ve been, the adjustments you’ve made along the way.

Is it time for you to make an adjustment?

Is it time for you to allow a guide in your life?

You probably know by now, my skills are in Google and getting you found online.

If you really want to grow your business, you need to be found on Google, am I right?

Let me know if I can be your guide.
