Have you read my I Get YOU Found Playbook?

It shows the 3 plays I developed to receive hundreds of Google reviews which generates hundreds of thousands in revenue.

Let’s talk about some of the most basic plays in any team sport.

Passing and receiving.

12 years ago, my son Lucas was back home from Grand Canyon University where he was earning his bachelor’s degree and playing college lacrosse.

There was a men’s lacrosse team here in Victoria and Lucas and I thought it would be fun if I came out to practice with them.

I had never played lacrosse other than catch with my boys.

I can tell you it’s a lot harder when you add a helmet, shoulder pads, and running into the equation.

I remember one play where all I had to do was run the route, get open and turn back to receive a pass.

The thing about lacrosse is that as soon as the player receives the pass you can check him.

I caught the ball and BAM, the defender timed it perfectly and hit me full force on the shoulder.

Like I said …BAM!

I went flying one way and my stick and ball went 2 other directions.

I rolled about 3 times and got back on my feet.

I immediately realized that it was unwise for an inexperienced 50-year-old dad to be playing contact sports with 20-something-year-old men who all think they have something to prove.

I also learned then that the fundamentals of passing and receiving are key.

And it’s up to the receiver to get into position to receive and hold on to the pass.

Lots of players are eligible to receive a pass but are they in position to receive it?

Every time we deliver or install a sign we are eligible to receive a Google review, but are we in position to receive one?

Making a sign makes us eligible.
Making an amazing sign puts us in position to receive a review.

On-time delivery makes us eligible.
Ahead of schedule puts us in position to receive.

Doing what’s expected = eligible.
Exceeding expectations = in position to receive a 4- or 5-star review.

We’ve all seen baseball or football players drop the ball.

The play is dead.

Sooner or later we all drop the ball.

Get yourself up, adjust, and move on to the next play.

The most spectacular plays are when a guy is in position to make the catch and it bobbles off of his hand, maybe back up in the air and somehow he reigns it back under control and makes the fair catch.

The fans go wild! What was almost a disaster gets saved and something spectacular and memorable is created.

I’ve had that happen. We’ve made a mistake and the customer isn’t happy with the situation.

You take responsibility and make a second effort and get the job done right the second time around.

Those reviews mean so much more to me because the client gave us the grace to recover from our shortcomings.

It may have been poor execution of a job, a communication issue, installation, or timing. Who knows?

As a business owner or manager even if the negative issue isn’t your fault, it’s always your responsibility.

Your reputation depends on it.

Don’t be eligible.
Go get yourself in position to receive!

It may be a football, baseball, or basketball. Someone passes it, someone receives it.

Soccer, hockey, even tennis and pickleball players have to receive or return the ball.

What does every one of these receivers have in common?

They have to get into a position to receive the pass.
