Learning from mistakes
Ok, so here’s something I work really hard at and fail at, tell me if you can relate…
Judging people.
Forget about it not even being Christian or nice, it’s freaking hypocritical!
We all screw up. Our natural tendency is for self-defense.
When people criticize us we go shields up, full defense, set phasers to kill, and lock on photon torpedoes (well at least I do)!
Can I get an amen? Does anybody here relate to what I’m saying?
But here’s the thing. The same people who are throwing you under the bus, they know that they screw up too! They know what it’s like to be human, and to be human is to fail.
But the best part of being human is that not only do we learn from our mistakes, but we can also learn from other people’s mistakes.
And taking that one step further, you can learn from my mistakes in advance so you don’t have to go through them and ask for help. You can actively avoid the same mistakes I made.
For me, that’s been 40 years of marriage!
If you have kids, that’s called parenting. In school, it’s called teaching. In business, it’s called mentoring.
In life, it’s called friendship.

I’ve learned what to do from you. Just as importantly, I’ve learned what not to do or what not to do again.
Life is hard.
